2010 - The Year of the Tiger

According to the Chinese calendar, this is the Year of the
Tiger, and the Association of Advancement Services Professionals has already
pounced on it with gusto. Over the
holidays, AASP and CASE (the Council for Advancement and Support of Education) announced
a joint effort to develop programming and training material for Advancement
Services professionals from all walks of life.
More details can be found on the AASP blog. The AASP Executive Committee will be meeting
soon to discuss programming priorities and initiatives we would like to develop
with CASE. By all means, if you have
ideas for new and different training opportunities, let us know.
According to Chinese tradition, the Tiger is lucky, vivid,
lively, and engaging. The Tiger is also brave, as
evidenced by his undying courage. We
believe that in the coming year, you will see your association exhibit many if
not all of these attributes. Not only do
we anticipate new programming opportunities, as well as a Summit in Chicago
come October 4th that will be beyond compare to our first 2 Summits,
but expanded surveys and web seminars on matters of great interest to our professional
community. We are also pursuing
partnerships with other organizations in order to provide more value and
opportunity to the entire advancement profession.
If you are not a member of AASP, please consider joining us
for this all-important year in the life of our organization. If you are a member, please consider
volunteering in any number of capacities.
Board member Meredeth Winter is our volunteer coordinator and can let
you know how you can be of additional value to the organization.
Best regards and wishes for good luck during the Year of the
Tiger!
