January 2017: Message from the President
Tuesday, January 3, 2017
Happy New Year! I hope each of you enjoyed a festive holiday season with loved ones and good friends
As a proud founding member of the Association of Advancement Services Professionals, I'm honored to have the opportunity to serve as your president for the next two years alongside several top-notch professionals. It has been my pleasure to volunteer with committees and the Board since AASP's inception and I am genuinely looking forward to continuing to support our profession in this new leadership role.
Reflecting on 2016, there have been a number of extraordinary AASP accomplishments for which you should all feel proud. For the first time ever, we had to close Summit registration early due to a record number of attendee registrations. We welcomed our greatest level of sponsor support and participation thus far, demonstrating the commitment our vendors and partners have to this profession and our organization. By offering an ever increasing number of Regional Symposia and Best Practices Webinars, existing members and nonmembers alike expanded their knowledge and experience with additional opportunities for professional development and education at a lower cost and closer to home.
AASP will celebrate it’s 10th Anniversary in 2017, and the year looks bright. We're planning a celebratory 10th Anniversary Summit at a newlocation, The Chicago Hilton, where we’ll explore our theme, “Impacting the Changing World of Philanthropy.” I hope you'll also plan to take advantage of our full schedule of best practice Webinars and Symposia. Registration is open, so mark your calendar for education now.
Together, we have exciting new opportunities to lead, support, and educate both our members and the profession as a whole. I thank you for the opportunity to serve as your president and look forward to our continued success and friendship.
