Bridging the Counting Methodologies Between Advancement and Finance

Presenter: Aaron Forrest, Director of Compliance & Gift Reporting, University of Rochester Advancement

Price: Members $49, Nonmembers $99

Primary Learning Objectives

  1. Understanding the differences between Advancement and Finance counting methods.
  2. Reconciling Advancement reports to the organization’s financial statements.
  3. Communicating differences to stakeholders and senior leadership.

Session Description

Advancement activity has a significant impact on the organization’s financial statements. However, Advancement and Central Finance do not share the same counting and reporting methodologies, and often use similar financial terms for different concepts. This often leads to communication hurdles internally as well as with stakeholders viewing Advancement reports and the organization’s financial statements. This webinar will cover these challenges and successes in relationship building with Finance staff, tools and techniques for reconciling Advancement to Finance reports, and the manner in which you convey this information to senior leadership.
