Digitizing Donor Relations

Though online giving outlets and platform companions to traditional communication channels are no longer innovative, fully integrated social media in the field of higher education is a relatively new phenomenon and is redefining many possibilities. Social media is already changing the design and strategy of communication. How is digital stewardship different from its traditional counterparts? How are we realizing or failing to realize the full potential of digital stewardship?

Learning Objectives:

  • Attendees will be able to create a digital stewardship plan that meets the needs their donors
  • Attendees will be able to identify priorities related their overall digital stewardship efforts
  • Attendees will be able to implement low-cost, high-impact strategies that will drive results and increase their digital footprint


Jonathan Brooks is the Associate Director of Annual Giving at the University of Houston. He specializes in digital fundraising, but also manages student and young alumni programs, direct marketing, data integration, and reporting for his department. Prior to his arrival in higher education, he worked as a consultant in digital media and telemarketing space.
