Anita LawsonDear members,

The challenges we face as advancement services professionals are continuously evolving. With changes to U.S. tax laws and new data protection legislation such as the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), it is critical that we stay informed and proactive. This fall, I invite you to join us in Navigating Change Through Best Practices at Summit 2018, November 14-16, where we will help you navigate these challenges with tried and tested tactics that you can incorporate into your organization immediately.

If you are a practitioner from an underrepresented group of our membership (Arts/Culture, Environment/Wildlife, K-12 Education, Human/Social Services, Religion, or Healthcare) or work in a small shop (three or fewer FTEs in your advancement services department), consider applying for a Summit 2018 scholarship. We are so pleased to be able to offer six scholarships this year that include the registration fee, travel costs up to $300, one year of membership dues, and more. If you are interested in applying, visit the scholarships page to find out if you qualify and apply by Friday, August 3.

Each year, AASP volunteers plan Summit with an intention to encourage attendees to network and connect with peers. We will once again offer pre-conference workshops for industry newcomers, executives, and those who want to dive deeper into data analytics. In addition to the many educational sessions that Summit is known for, the schedule will include plenty of time to socialize during breakfasts, breaks, networking dinners and the President’s reception.

Speaking of connection, have you used the new FundSvcs search tool yet? Thanks to our sponsor Ellucian, we now have improved access to the hundreds of documents available on the download site and thousands of conversations between advancement services professionals on the FundSvcs listserv. This new search functionality allows you to easily navigate our community resources and attain valuable information within seconds.

No matter what opportunities or challenges may arise, AASP is dedicated to supporting, educating, and uniting current and aspiring advancement services leaders from all nonprofit sectors. AASP provides the resources and information that strengthen our work, advance careers, and advocate for the rapidly evolving field of advancement services.

 Sincerely,

Anita Lawson
