Anita LawsonDear members,

There may be significant changes on the horizon that will impact our profession and the institutions we support; primarily, the recent proposed changes to US tax law. Through our slate of 2018 education and best practices, rest assured that AASP will help you mitigate risk, stay ahead of regulatory changes, and ensure compliance. We are here to help you tackle what’s now and prepare for what’s next with a strategic, big-picture perspective.

AASP is as strong as its members, and 2017—with our largest Summit to date and continued growth in membership well past 1,000—is a direct reflection of how dedicated each of you are to your profession and the growth and success of the nonprofit sector. Thank you for helping AASP exceed expectations and for making a difference in advancement services.

With the new year now upon us, start reserving your calendar for AASP’s slate of 2018 education and events. Register online for the 2018 Regional Symposium closest to you and connect with your fellow colleagues in an intimate educational setting. If you don’t have the opportunity to get out of the office, be sure to take advantage of our cost-effective 2018 Best Practice Webinars, presented by industry experts in gift receipting, technology adoption, onboarding and training, stewardship reporting, and more.

In other news, I am excited to announce Ellucian as the first official sponsor of the AASP FundSvcs Listserv. This new sponsorship provides for a system upgrade to FundSvcs, integrating new Swiftype search technology that delivers quick and relevant search results. Ellucian’s continued support will provide intuitive access to the resources you need to develop your career and communicate more effectively with fellow advancement services colleagues.

If you haven’t already, I encourage you to review and comment on our current slate of Draft Best Practices in Advancement Management, Campaign Management, and Information Management through Sunday, December 31

Reflecting on this past year, I am both humbled and proud of the outstanding education, events, and strong sense of community we continue to support with our members, partners and sponsors. This year we celebrated our 10th Anniversary Summit with over 560 advancement services professionals, held expert-led Best Practice Webinars, published new Best Practices in a variety of areas for professional development, hosted regional symposia across the country, and more. I am excited for what new opportunities and growth is next for AASP in the coming year.

I wish you all a safe and happy holiday season with family and friends, and I look forward to reconnecting in the new year.
